Back when I used to breed betta fish, I had a painting of one of our males in my bedroom (it’s called The Firstborn). Looking at it in half-sleep every morning slowly led to this image here. It grew in my mind over a few days, then I stored it away, and in 2025, a few years later, and after having moved to Portugal, I finally realized it. It’s the foirst painting I finished here, and I must say the intensity of the light, as well as the variety of vegetation here in Southern Europe really help with the more fantastical images.
